ERC 2027
  22 July 2026

The European Research Council - ERC 2027 Work Programme has been published. As previously announced, the programme includes several important changes.

Under the new rules, the eligibility windows for the ERC Starting Grant and Consolidator Grant schemes have been expanded. Researchers who defended their PhD within the 0-10 year period preceding the reference date of 1 January 2027 will be eligible to apply for the ERC 2027-Starting Grant call. Accordingly, researchers who defended their PhD between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2026 will be eligible to apply for the ERC-2027-StG call.  The ERC Consolidator Grant call will be open to researchers who defended their PhD within the 5-15 year period preceding the same reference date. Accordingly, researchers who defended their PhD between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2021 will be eligible to apply for the ERC-2027-CoG call.

Due to the increasing number of applications, several important changes have also been introduced to the ERC application and reapplication rules. In addition, researchers will be able to receive a maximum of one ERC Starting Grant and one ERC Consolidator Grant during their careers.

The timetable for the ERC calls under the 2027 Work Programme is as follows:

One of the notable changes in the new timetable is that the ERC Synergy Grant call will open in February 2027, unlike in previous years. The first call to be launched under the new Work Programme, the ERC-2027-Starting Grant call, is scheduled to open on 22 July 2026 and close on 14 October 2026.

Researchers planning to apply to the ERC 2027 calls are invited to contact ERC National Contact Point Aslı Vural at ncperc@tubitak.gov.tr to discuss programme-related questions, new project ideas, previous evaluation reports, and opportunities to benefit from specific training activities and support mechanisms offered by TÜBİTAK, including the EBAG Programme.
